Minecraft Mods

Minecraft is an amazing game and recently I have found out that it can become even more entertaining by using these things called mods. I wanted to start experimenting with a while back and there seems to be one big issue with them, and that is the fact that downloading them is very insecure and dangerous. The pages they are on always have misleading ads to try to get users to click on them and download malware. Often times the actual download button redirects you to another page where you must watch ads or be subject to many popups. Or even worse the downloads are packaged with malware which you can't avoid. I was really frustrated that people are turning something that should be fun and simple to make Minecraft even more fun into something that is dangerous and risky. So I decided to make this web page where I will post the Minecraft mods that I have used and enjoyed so that others can have access to them without any irritating ads or risk of getting malware.

Forge

Below I've attached the most recent version of Forge. If you aren't familiar with Forge, it is a simple program which allows users to load mods into Minecraft. All you have to do is run the launcher and then when you open the Minecraft launcher instead of using the latest release, you can select the little down arrow next to it and scroll down to the lowest option which will have Forge in the name. When launching with this option I recommend not accessing old worlds as it can lead to corruption, so make a new world, or use it on a world in which you built while running Forge. This download below is for Windows 10 version of Minecraft. I will be uploading the Mac version shortly.

Mods

Now for the fun part, Mods! Below I have some of the mods in which I have tried and enjoyed. When using mods, all you have to do is drop the individual mod into the mod folder in the Minecraft folder and run Minecraft using Forge. The minecraft folder is found in users/appdata/.minecraft. I recommend making a folder called mods on your desktop so that way you can easily move the mods that you want to use in and out of Minecraft without losing them.

Topography Mod

This is a neat mod and it is one of the first I've ever tried. It is fairly simple as it just changes the way the world is generated. In this mod it allows you to choose from a selection of different world generations, such as floating islands, where you must survive in a world where each biome is an island floating in the sky. They have also included a new mob similar to a skeleton in that it will shoot at you with a bow. This mod is below and requires the supporting mod to the right. When using this mod both .jar files must be inside of your Minecraft mod folder in order to work.
